Taste - Greek Street Food
Taste is a new Greek Street-Food restaurant opening in Westmont, IL. They asked me to create a very minimal/simple logo that alluded to the "Greekness" without being kitch or cliche. The way I decided to do that was with a simple Helvetica font that would show "Greekness" through color and a symbol.
This was the initial round of prototypes. The potential color palettes I chose with the owners are at the bottom right. Through the rest of the examples I was attempting to replace one of the letters in "taste" to be the Greek equivalent. I felt changing the 'a' or 'e' would be the most elegant.
After that it was just time to iterate on each version to fine tune the design, making the Greek letters more and more cohesive in weight and size.
At this stage I met with the client again to offer more direct influence on the design in the final steps. We tried a few new colors and I ended up illustrating a street sign design to go with the theme of 'street food.' We ended up deciding this was too much, but kept it on the side for potential tshirt designs for employees.
In the end these were the designs we decided on. A horizontal layout for their website and the normal more condensed layout for social media, menus, and other branding.
